Crow (Acrylic on Board)

$418.00
Only 1 available

This piece is a testament to my commitment to get back into art. I took a hiatus from art for the past few years to work on myself. It took me over two years to complete this piece. Sometimes, you must own up to your shortcomings; one of mine has always been consistency. I've been working on trying to show up for the things that matter to me. It has been an incredibly long journey, but I'm making progress. I'm slowly chipping away at every goal I've set for myself.

It has been a crushing reminder of my failure the last two years because this painting the first thing I see when I walk into my office. I've let many negative voices in my head win, but now I'm done holding myself back.

I wanted to tackle a simple subject matter and try to execute my digital painting style in the real world. The crow is an interesting creature to me. In many cultures crows have been an omen of death. They’ve often been used to illustrate the evil or bad, that is until recently. Many are recognizing the intelligence of crows and how easily they will befriend humans who treat them nicely. I find their pitch-black feathers beautiful and wanted the painting to focus on the bird. As always, I use the signature halo effect behind my subject matter that has been present in art for years. This time I used a gold acrylic paint for the halo and the highlight accents throughout the bird.
